SG GHANA DONATES LIFE SAVING CARDIO EQUIPMENT TO THE NATIONAL CARDIOTHORACIC CENTRE

Accra - Ghana, Thursday 7th August, 2025

Management and Staff of Societe Generale Ghana Bank have donated critical cardio equipment to the National Cardiothoracic Centre (NCTC) at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.Donation to Korle-BuFig 1. Management and Staff of SG Ghana, Executives of NCTC

The donation which comes from contributions from Staff and matched by the Bank, consisted of an Electrocardiogram (ECG) machine, an automatic cardiac defibrillator, and four patient monitors valued at GHS330,000. Deputy Managing Director, Support at SG Ghana, Mr. Kwame Abbey in his address noted that the donation reaffirms the bank’s commitment to making life-changing impact in Ghana’s health sector. “As a bank, we recognize that our responsibility extends beyond financial services — we are also here to invest in the well-being of the communities we serve”, he said. “The work you do saves lives and brings hope to countless families and to our nation as a whole and we are proud to support you and humbled to be part of your extraordinary journey” Mr. Abbey added.

He expressed confidence that the cardio equipment donated will enhance the Centre’s capacity to continue delivering high-quality cardiac care to patients.

Dr. Kow Entsua-Mensah, Director of the NCTC, referenced the long-standing partnership between SG Ghana and the Centre and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the bank for once again investing significantly in the important work the Centre does. “This equipment will strengthen our ability to monitor, diagnose and respond rapidly to the needs of patients who come through our doors in critical condition”, he said excitedly. Dr. Kow Entsua-Mensah gave the assurance that the equipment would be put to excellent use and maintained with the highest standards in service to all patients. The National Cardiothoracic Centre, has over the past 35 years, served as the country’s leading facility for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in Ghana and the entire West African sub-region. To remain affordable and yet sustainable, the Centre continues to rely on strategic partnerships to make significant investments- a venture SG Ghana has been involved in for many years.
